My name is Debi and I have been creating and designing with all sorts of mediums for most of my life and well known for my very eclectic style! I am a single mother of one child and 4 dogs! We live in the snow belt area of Southwestern NY, love to ski in the winter months, camp in the summer and of course...play with my mediums!! Sewing was the first of what I learned very young, and willingly I might add, before I could even comprehend what I was reading. As a result, I learned to sew from looking at pictures and actual garments! After many successful years of creating and sewing for others, is now what makes my work sought after. Bringing an idea, a vision or anything to life from raw materials brings me a great sense of self satisfaction!! Through my school years, I was always getting ribbons, awards, praise and recognition for my work in art and many other projects that had to be created for a class here and there. Although I wanted to, I never went on to college for formal training in the art world, I chose another route for more practical reasons in my opinion at the time. As a young woman, I did many things and saw many places. One of my fondest memories was the great opportunity to live in the Carribbean Islands for 2 years, which was an experience I will never forget! Once I returned to the states, I supported my creative activities with tailoring and alterations while attending college. Graduating with an engineering degree, later becoming a Mom of a wonderful boy named Ryan, I continued to sew out of my home so I could spend the most important formative years at home, with my son. Once he became of school age, I went to work in the field I was trained for as a project designer for 10 years or so. I then changed directions and decided to open a tailor shop in December of 2002, which quickly became filled with more than I could handle and is still going strong! In late 2004, a friend introduced me to lampwork beads, and I was completely blown away (which does not happen to often). This form of art just reached in and touched my soul! From that point on, I became addicted - almost to the point of obsession...LOL Slowly, I obtained everything I needed to make beads and jewelry, researched every learning avenue available - then - practiced, practiced, practiced!! Now, self taught, always learning new and exciting techniques, and enjoying every minute of it, I have gained a great reputation for the quality of my work. Thank you for taking the time to visit!
